Importance of face to face communication
It is true that the emergence of modern day technology and social networking has made our communication more convenient, easier and a lot faster. In fact you do not have to go out of your house in order to communicate with others. Even though these new communication tools can make our lives much easier, there are still some important things that face to face communication offer that cannot be done using those new communication ways.
The ease of communicating through computers, telephones or mobile phones may be a good thing but those forms of communicating may lack feelings and warmth unlike if you are engaged with face to face communication. One of the advantages of communicating face to face is that you can actually see in the person’s eyes whether he or she is sincere on what he/she is saying. It is a very important factor especially in relationships. It is true that there are now a lot of relationships that emerged through the help of internet, telephone or even through texting. That it is not actually a bad thing but it is still better to converse in person especially when you are having some important matters to discuss. Face to face communication is also a very important factor especially in the workplace setting. Providing feedback towards a colleague can be done through emails but it is much better if you tell it to him/her directly to avoid misunderstandings. Regular meetings are still much better doing them face to face rather than having them done through telephone conference because when you do it face to face the flow of ideas are more spontaneous because you have direct contact with people involved in that certain conversation.
All though modern technology has provide us a lot of help in making things done much faster and more convenient, face to face communication is still the best way to express feelings and ideas.
